  • Protesters in Lafayette took part yesterday in the national 'Hands Off' protest known as 'Remove! Reverse! Reclaim!'—marching around the Tippecanoe County Courthouse while carrying signs and flags as police managed a brief altercation. Images showed community members engaging in planned civic action during the demonstration.  Journal & Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • During Saturday's scrimmage, Purdue football lost a potential starter to injury—raising concerns over key positions—and the team is working to improve consistency for upcoming games.  Journal & Courier
  • During his junior season, Purdue basketball player Braden Smith was named Big Ten Player of the Year and a consensus All-American as he averaged 15.8 points, 8.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals. On Saturday, he won the Bob Cousy Award as the nation's top point guard, making him the first Purdue player to earn the prize.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue football coach Barry Odom gave an update after an indoor scrimmage (held on Saturday) that said his team faced a close quarterback battle and some players were injured. He said the injuries (which may affect spring practice) will be closely watched as the team prepares for upcoming games.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue football had a Saturday scrimmage at Mollenkopf Athletic Center where tight end George Burhenn was injured—leaving questions about who will fill key positions. The team has four spring ball dates left and will hold a showcase at Ross-Ade Stadium next Saturday as coaches decide on new players for tight end, quarterback, and defense.  Journal & Courier
