CRIME NEWS
- ➤ State police arrested 19-year-old West Lafayette resident Colin Kidwell on Thursday just after 9:30 p.m. after he drove 100 mph in a 65-mph zone on I-65 near the 169-mile marker and turned off his lights to avoid a trooper—he now faces charges for resisting law enforcement, aggressive driving, and reckless driving. - ➤ SK hynix will host public information sessions regarding its proposed chips plant in West Lafayette after community concerns were voiced— the first session is on April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Convergence Center on Purdue University's campus— to address questions on environmental safety, regulatory compliance and infrastructure planning. - ➤ SK Hynix will hold its first community meeting on April 11 (6:30 p.m. at the Convergence Center on Foundry Drive) to discuss its proposed chip facility in West Lafayette. The city council postponed the rezoning vote (now set for May 5) to consider public feedback on the project. Star City News
- ➤ The USPS began changes on April 1 that may slow some mail deliveries in Indiana as part of a plan to save $36 billion over the next decade—while a voluntary early retirement program aims to cut 10,000 jobs by the end of April, with further changes set for July 1. This move comes as first-class and marketing mail volumes have dropped sharply due to rising electronic communication. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Purdue University will switch to a new bus service next school year after CityBus loses the on-campus transit contract. CityBus will end its Campus Loop service but will keep running its other routes to help Purdue students, faculty and staff reach homes, stores and work. WLFI

- ➤ Officials from Ascension St. Vincent and Purdue University announced on Friday that plans for a new medical facility at the intersection of Airport Road and U.S. 231 in West Lafayette will move forward after a delay of over two years. The building will include urgent care, imaging, labs and primary care services and will house Purdue’s West Lafayette Center for Health Living when completed. Journal & Courier
