CRIME NEWS

  • Bryant Taylor, 18, led police on a dangerous chase Thursday night in Lafayette after his 2014 GMC Terrain did donuts near Wea Park — he fled on foot and was arrested, and he now faces charges for resisting law enforcement, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.  Star City News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Gary Allan, a chart-topping country artist, will perform at Loeb Stadium on July 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets go on sale April 4 at 10 a.m. in-person and online presale begins April 2 — ticket prices are expected to range from $39 to $99.  Journal & Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today a lease was signed at First Lafayette Christian to give LARA use of upper-floor classrooms for adult education classes— a space that once held a Bible study room. The church, a community landmark since 1913, will continue serving as a meeting place while supporting LARA's plan to help local adults learn.  Star City News
  • Today, Purdue’s oldest campus ministry held a groundbreaking at its new home on Waldron Street after leaving its historic State Street location—marking a step forward in its tradition of service projects. The ministry, known for the Winterization project, expects the new building to be completed by summer 2026.  Star City News
  • Purdue University was named to Forbes' New Ivies list for producing job-ready graduates. The university is the only public school in Indiana on the list and is recognized for its strong focus on STEM and affordable education—factors that help its students secure top jobs.  Star City News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Purdue, the 4 seed Boilermakers, will face 1 seed Houston in the Sweet Sixteen as they aim to reach the Elite Eight for the third time in six tournaments (analysts say Houston’s game plan may test Purdue).  Journal & Courier
  • At Lucas Oil Stadium, Purdue basketball lost a close Sweet 16 game to Houston when the Cougars hit a game-winning shot at the final second. Coach Matt Painter said nearly the entire team except one senior will return next season—planning to add transfers—and the Boilermakers may be set for a strong run with a possible Final Four appearance in Indianapolis.  Journal & Courier
  • Today, the 75-year-old Purdue Crew will host a 2000 kilometer duel on the Wabash River against Minnesota, with boats set to leave at 9 a.m. until noon after three and a half months of indoor training. Crew member Nathaniel Hiatt hopes the event will draw a large crowd—reviving an old campus tradition.  WLFI
