  • James Cole Elementary is hosting a bulky trash pickup event this Saturday in its parking lot starting at 8 a.m. and accepting electronics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with tractor tires incurring a $25 fee (all other items are free).  Star City News

  • Downtown Lafayette small business owners face lease clauses that raise rent 3% yearly, forcing some to relocate or launch fundraising efforts + seek more affordable options, while city officials and business groups urge talks between tenants and landlords to keep Main Street lively.  Journal & Courier

  • Brooklyn Burton was appointed vice president of economic development at Greater Lafayette Commerce and will lead efforts to attract and retain local businesses. She begins her role on March 23 to strengthen our region’s business climate.  Journal & Courier

  • Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen and Purdue President Mung Chiang will address AI-driven innovation at a free public lecture on Mar. 25 at Fowler Hall in Stewart Center, with doors opening at 3:30 p.m.  Journal & Courier
  • Indiana DNR partnered with National Wild Turkey Federation + Purdue University to host an Intro to Squirrel Hunting workshop aimed at teaching conservation skills; a turkey hunting class will take place on March 21 at Pigeon River FWA.  Star City News
  • Ivy Tech in Lafayette will upgrade door locks and security cameras in the fall after a safety audit flagged risks with current 20-year-old locks that require opening to engage. The board approved over $240,000 for door locks and a $150,000 upgrade for cameras.  Journal & Courier

  • CBS analyst Jon Rothstein said Purdue is his sentimental choice as they face Queens today at 7:35 p.m. ET at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis (highlighting a four-season journey through March Madness).  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue basketball is set for NCAA Tournament debuts as senior transfer Liam Murphy, redshirt freshman Jack Benter, and three teammates will compete this weekend after a Big Ten Tournament win over Michigan on March 15.   • Purdue’s Boiler Brass pep band is traveling with the men’s basketball team during March Madness to energize tournament games and maintain traditions from Mackey Arena. Green wrote an essay on The Players' Tribune remembering his close friend Rondale Moore — a former Purdue All-American from New Albany — who died on Feb. 21 after an injury-shortened NFL career.
