- ➤ Two people died and officials confirmed injuries from a supercell that produced four tornadoes and large hail as it moved from Pontiac, Illinois to Lake Village, about 60 miles northwest of Lafayette — emergency shelter was set up at North Newton High School and damage surveys are planned today. - ➤ Lafayette Jefferson Jazz Ensemble qualifies for the ISSMA State Finals for the first time and will host a public media night on March 19 (Rohrman Performing Arts Center) before competing on March 20 at Pike High School in Indianapolis. Journal & Courier
- ➤ Greater Lafayette Commerce is accepting booth reservations online for its HireME Career Fair on April 29. The fair will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for high school juniors and seniors and then open to the public until 5 p.m. Star City News

- ➤ Lafayette earned the SolSmart Gold designation for making solar energy easier to access, officials said — marking its role at the March 11 Indiana Sustainability and Resilience Conference. Journal & Courier

- ➤ NAMI Indiana recognized Sheriff Bob Goldsmith with the Executive Advocate for Mental Health Justice Award today for expanding mental health services at Tippecanoe County Jail; he said his team and community partners increased service hours from 24 to 80 each week. Star City News
- ➤ The city will remove the 150-year-old Kissing Tree during the week of March 15 (while schools are on spring break) because its roots and dead branches pose a safety hazard; a plaque will be installed and a new tree will later be planted in its place. Journal & Courier
