Purdue football's tight end George Burhenn is 100% healthy and leads the team's spring practice in West Lafayette after overcoming injuries that limited his play last season — the coach and teammates see his recovery as a boost for the season.
Fletcher Loyer broke Purdue's career 3-point record (282 makes) in his final game at Mackey Arena on Saturday, March 7.
He surpassed Carsen Edwards’ mark with a clutch shot against Wisconsin to set the new record.
Maya Zilbershlag, a promising FIBA star, committed to Purdue women's basketball for the 2026-27 season on Sunday, March 8, after strong showings in summer play.
She becomes the third international recruit joining the team (with guard Keona Douwstra and forward Katarina Sediva) as Purdue builds a diverse roster.
Last Saturday, at the IHSAA boys basketball sectionals, three Lafayette area players scored 30 points as teams like Harrison, Rossville, Tri-County, Benton Central and West Lafayette earned sectional championships; fans may vote for the top performer until noon Thursday.
Local fans can vote unlimited times for Ivy Tech Journal and Courier Athlete of the Week nominees from indoor track + gymnastics events held March 2-7, with voting closing Thursday at noon and featuring athletes from West Lafayette and Harrison.
Purdue earned a No. 7 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will play Thursday evening after a tight season finish.
A win will advance the Boilermakers to Friday's quarterfinals against Nebraska.
