Danise Baird, wife of Rep. Jim Baird, died on March 1 following complications from injuries sustained in a January car crash in Washington, D.C.
His office announced her passing after he filed for re-election days after the incident.

23–28) in gymnastics, swimming, and basketball, with polls closing Thursday at noon.

Purdue women's basketball advanced into the Big Ten Conference tournament after a 67-60 win over Northwestern on Sunday, Mar.
1, with key plays from Nya Smith, Kiki Smith and Tara Daye. The team is expected to hold the No. 14 seed in next week’s tournament in Indianapolis.
