  • Traditions of Lafayette is hosting its new Creative Connections event today from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help seniors over 55 build friendships with guided conversation and casual meetups over food+drinks.  Star City News

  • Dog N Suds opened its Lafayette location on Sagamore Parkway on Feb. 23, serving eager customers despite brisk weather. General Manager Joe Davenport led a full team as patrons grabbed to-go root beer cups and coney dogs.  Journal & Courier
  • Crews are installing a fence at the SK hynix site off Kalberer Road and Yeager Road in West Lafayette this week — pre-construction grading and earthwork are set to begin March 2.  Star City News

  • On March 11, Lafayette will host two events honoring Stephen K. Jones and the Center's early support for disabled children: author Stuart D. Jones will deliver a memorial at 1 p.m. at the Center and a book signing from 5 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Books (426 Main St.).  Journal & Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents in Lafayette gathered Tuesday evening at Social Media Parent Education Night in Tippecanoe County to learn how to protect children online plus a school resource officer explained how to recognize risks like online grooming, sexting and AI-generated misinformation.  WLFI
  • Purdue Pete visited Mintonye Elementary School today to help spark excitement for National Read Across America Week beginning next week. Teachers led a read-aloud session that encouraged students to look forward to a week of reading fun.  WLFI
  • Purdue University engineering student Jack McKenna is a finalist for a $5 million prize on Beast Games, with the season finale streaming today on Amazon Prime (he is one of the final six and recognized as a child genius).  Journal & Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • The West Lafayette Police Department celebrated Systems Manager Vickie Denson, who finished her radiation treatments on Monday and is now cancer-free. The department posted an announcement praising her resilience (a win against cancer).  Star City News

  • Purdue women's basketball will face Oregon at Mackey Arena in a key finale that could secure their Big Ten Conference tournament berth — Coach Katie Gearlds says the team remains focused on the challenge ahead.  Journal & Courier
  • Eight-year-old Christopher Lee, a dedicated Purdue women's basketball fan from Lafayette, met players at Mackey Arena and Cardinal Court during the Dream On 3 event last week. He played HORSE, met coaches, signed autographs, and watched a postgame press conference, fulfilling a dream that celebrated his passion and resilience.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue football will host its Spring Showcase on April 11 at noon at Ross-Ade Stadium as spring practices wrap up. Fans will see the 2026 roster featuring 53 newcomers and updated coaching staff changes.  Journal & Courier
  • Harrison boys basketball suffered a setback when senior forward Brady Henchon injured his knee Tuesday night at Harold R. May Gymnasium against Zionsville. The team will miss his key defense if he cannot play in the Sagamore Conference Championship on Feb. 27 and the sectional semifinal in Lafayette next week.  Journal & Courier
