CULTURE NEWS

  • Lafayette artist Tyler Truth will perform in Toledo, Ohio Saturday, where he is expected to attract one of the largest crowds of his career. His first tour shows how his music has grown from small hometown gigs to larger fan-filled venues.  WLFI

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tippecanoe School Corp has opened kindergarten registration for 2026-27; families should contact their child's school to start the process and prepare required documents with online registration beginning July 7.  Journal & Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • USDA Farm Service Agency has designated 28 Indiana counties as natural disaster areas due to drought, making loans available for farmers to replace equipment, livestock or refinance debts. Producers in counties like Adams, Tipton and Howard must apply by August 31 (loans will be reviewed based on losses).  WLFI
  • A Hoosier Lottery CA$H 5 ticket bought at Village Pantry in West Lafayette matched all five numbers and won $597,569 in Wednesday's drawing. Ticket holders should secure their ticket & consult a financial advisor to follow claim instructions from Hoosier Lottery.  Journal & Courier
  • Lafayette distributed $386,000 to Valley Oaks Health for opioid programming to aid in the community’s recovery (the payment is part of a $3.3 million distribution over a 16-year period starting in 2022).  Star City News
  • Members of the West Lafayette Fire Department attended the 3rd annual Indiana Winter Fire School to learn topics like Youth Firesetter Intervention and Incident Safety Officer procedures — training meant to boost their fire safety skills during emergencies.  Star City News

  • Sunrise Recovery opened a new addiction treatment center on Veterans Memorial Parkway in Lafayette on Thursday. The facility offers 45 beds for co-ed in-patient care and combines medical support with clinical therapy — its staff bring personal experience to guide recovery.  Star City News
