Lafayette Parks and Recreation is accepting online registration for its Lifeguard Certification Course—applicants over 15 who pass swimming drills will get a fee refund after completing the course and can work as a lifeguard in the area.

On Sunday, Indiana State Police Lafayette District announced the death of its retired K-9 Jordy, a German Shepherd who served from 2015 to 2025 and died of medical reasons.

The department sent condolences to Trooper McQueary's family, who cared for Jordy after his retirement.
