  • At the Hoosier Conference Championship meet on Jan. 18, Central Catholic senior Anthony Korchnak broke two records, and West Lafayette girls swimming captured the title with fresh talent + strong teamwork.   • Nomination for the Ivy Tech Journal & Courier Athlete of the Week ran from Jan. 12–17 and voters can cast ballots until noon Thursday. Nominees include historic wrestler Erin Cauble and standout athletes in swimming, basketball, and wrestling from local schools.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue women's basketball coach Katie Gearlds discussed the team's loss at USC on Sunday (the game offered key lessons) and said the squad is learning quickly as it prepares for tougher matches ahead.  Journal & Courier
  • Purdue women's basketball fell 83-57 to USC on Sunday, Jan. 18, as turnovers and foul trouble challenged the team in a tough road game. Coach Gearlds said the team showed perseverance — a promising sign as they work to rebuild with a new recruitment model.  Journal & Courier
